A young wolf from the Wapiti Pack runs to a bull elk kill made by the pack in Yellowstone during Thanksgiving week. The last time I was able to photographs wolves with my telephoto lens on my camera and not see them through my spotting scope was 3 months ago. Always a rare treat to be able to photograph them with my camera.

The 8 Mile Wolf pack feeds on a winter kill bison in Yellowstone. Based on the bison’s fur missing from its head, it had likely been in the pond for some time. A large Grizzly had found the carcass earlier in the day and had been feeding on it. The wolves and grizzly battled over the carcass off and on. I have a video of one of the encounters I will edit and post soon. Photographed May 19th 2024 by Scott Brovsky, Big Sky Wildlife.

This female wolf pup was left behind when the rest of the Shrimp Lake pack went out on a hunt. After she played with the leg bone of a Bison carcass, she got lonely and started howling for the pack at sunset. This is the actual audio of her howl. It is very hard to capture audio out in the field and almost all of the audio you hear in wildlife documentaries is created in a studio. Luckily she was close enough for me to be able to capture her howling. Filmed March 16th, 2024 at dusk by Scott Brovsky, Big Sky Wildlife.
